Giganews Announces Personal Storage Space

Cloud computing has been all the rage this week, with Amazon announcing their cloud drive and now Giganews has formally announced their forray into cloud computing. Cloud computing is popular.
As Giganews mentions on their homepage ” We have been doing public “cloud storage” many years before the term was coined and well before “cloud storage” was “cool” with our globally distributed Usenet clusters”.
This is true in fact all top Usenet service providers worth their salt have huge datacenters. Some in fact, such as Highwinds have split their business into two parts Usenet service and a CDN ( Content Delivery Network ) service.
UsenetReviewz Uses Cloud Services
Cloud computing despite being the new in vogue term is actually pretty cool, in fact, this website UsenetReviewz currently makes use of Amazon S3 services to make sure that you, the reader can receive images rapidly. Other cloud technologies we like include dropbox, gmail apps and Carbonite (an online backup service)
Whats cool about Giganews’ announcement is that they are looking to you the customer for input on how you want to be able to use the personal storage system.
You choose What your Storage will do
Here is what they say “ As part of this project, we would like to again solicit Giganews members’ feedback about features we are working on. In the upcoming weeks we will be reaching out to you with questions, updates and ultimately a request for beta testers. As always, our Diamond members will get first access to our personal storage product.”
If you are in a hurry for Cloud drive access for personal storage space you can check out Amazon’s cloud drive for a free 5 gigs of cloud storage. Otherwise and especially if you are an existing Giganews Diamond customer be sure to visit Giganews and leave them comments on twitter or facebook on how you want your cloud storage to work.
Again, if you are in a hurry If you are looking for ideas then check out Amazon’s Cloud drive and take that for a test drive.
